After being hit in the left leg by a pitch that went deep into his body, Yang Seok-hwan stood up in anger, glaring at Yoo Young-chan. Yoo walked up to the plate and took off his hat to show that there was no intent.
Seeing this, LG catcher Park Dong-won blocked Yang Seok-hwan’s path and engaged in a nervous battle, sending both players spilling onto the ground.

With momentum on their side, LG scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on Kim Min-sung’s RBI single to left, and then added two more in the top of the eighth on back-to-back throwing errors by opposing pitcher Jung Chul-won, an infield single by Park Hae-min, and a fielder’s choice.
When asked about the bench-clearing situation in the top of the seventh inning, Park explained, “I didn’t fight with Yang Seok-hwan. I was standing (with Yang) after the ball was hit, and he suddenly jumped off the bench, so I was more surprised.” “This is the first time that bench clearing has happened in a defensive situation,” he said.
Park’s confrontation with Yang was motivated by a desire to protect the younger pitcher. “I was drying the batter,” he said, “and I was very surprised. The batter said he was hit badly, but I thought there was no reason to fight,” he said, adding, “I thought it would be better not to let them see each other because (Yoo) Young-chan might be embarrassed. So I was covering up.”
Meanwhile, Yoo Young-chan, one of the people who caused the bench-clearing to happen, said, “It was my first time in this situation. “I didn’t think anything of it. It was a bad situation, but I enjoyed the atmosphere,” he said, adding, “I felt like I was getting excited or something like that. It was fun,” he says with a wry smile.
“My coach said, ‘Don’t worry about it at all, just throw your ball,’ so I tried to throw mine,” he added.
