Jang Hyun-Soo, lymph gland tumor…needs up to 4 months to return
Former national team defender Jang Hyun-soo (32, Alhilal) will be out of action for about four months after a lymph gland tumor was discovered.
On June 6 (KST), Al-Hilal said 안전놀이터, “Recently, Jang Hyun-soo was found to have a benign lymph gland tumor. He will need up to four months for treatment.”
Jang, who was left off the roster for four consecutive games before the end of the league last month, is believed to have started treatment for the tumor.
Jang began his professional career in 2012 when he joined Japan’s FC Tokyo, then played for Guangzhou Puri (China) and Tokyo before joining Al-Hilal in 2019.
Al-Hilal’s main defender has won three Saudi Arabian league titles and two Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League titles. Al-Hilal also reached the final of the 2022 Champions League, but finished as runners-up to Urawa Reds (Japan).
Jang’s contract expires at the end of this season, and Al-Hilal are in talks to extend it. Jang signed a one-year extension with Al-Hilal last summer.
